This Morning TV’s Dr Chris Steele

To encourage people to put their hearing to the test, Boots Hearingcare recently teamed up with TV’s This Morning resident GP Dr Chris Steele, and the charity Hearing Concern LINK for a nationwide ‘Put Your Hearing To The Test’ campaign. They called on people, especially those over 60, to ask themselves ‘when was the last time I had a hearing check?’

Dr Chris Steele says:

“The natural reaction is for people to ‘put it off’ and not take action. But when people do have a hearing test they are often very surprised by the results, not realising how much they were missing - I know I was. Unlike eyesight, it is not easy to draw comparisons with others to judge how good your hearing is.”

Telltale signs of hearing loss

“Do you constantly turn up the television while others complain that you have the volume too loud? Do you struggle to follow conversation when there is background noise? If these sound familiar to you, they’re signs of hearing loss and you should have a hearing check.”

The latest hearing aid technology

Dr Chris Steele had his hearing checked by Boots hearingcare and has been fitted with hearing aids in both ears. Technology has evolved and progressed significantly in all walks of life, from mobile phones and MP3 players to televisions and computers. The solutions available to help you fine tune your hearing have developed in the same way. There are now options that are smaller, smarter and more comfortable than ever before. There is even a device that you use ‘as and when required’, with solutions available privately from £149.
